The 3 March 2016 saw the official launch of the first ever Face of Lufthansa event at The Tin Factory in Kramerville, celebrating 60 Years of long-haul travel and the arrival of the newest aircraft carrier, the Boeing 747-800, the next generation of the iconic Jumbo Jet.

We’re tasked with creating magic

The BNC Events team were responsible for coming up with an event proposal for the launch; this included

  • Venue
  • Décor
  • Catering
  • Entertainment
  • Invites and attendees

We pulled this off as only we know how; by throwing a world class party, with all the glitz and glamour of the retro 60’s and 70’s.

The event

Celebrities, media, trade as well as the German Ambassador and his wife joined in the unveiling.

There were also a variety of elements, such as

  • a DJ playing upbeat classic music from the 60’s/70’s,
  • lots of yellow and blue lighting
  • LED lit up seating pods
  • a branded bar fully stocked
  • a big erected screen displaying the Lufthansa airplane
  • a cocktail truck
  • small Lufthansa model airplanes hanging from the ceiling
  • Lufthansa photography
  • a photo booth

German-styled food and beverages roamed the venue, ending off the evening with a Lufthansa inspired sweets cart.

The Face of Lufthansa

It was with great pride and joy that former Miss South Africa, and ‘media mogul’ of SA, Jo-Ann Strauss was announced as the first ever South African Face of Lufthansa.

Her acceptance speech was nothing short of spectacular, as she confirmed the wise choice of Lufthansa by linking both South African and German characteristics into her speech – showing the crowd that English, German and Xhosa can effectively be linked together to make a unity of wisdom, laughter, seriousness and the perfect partnership.

A night to remember

After the formalities and food, the competition winners were announced, and prizes included business class tickets and a R10 000 Rimowa suitcase. The DJ then cranked up the music and the dance floor opened up and the party continued.
